Jangaon, Sept-14 : Downpours across various mandals in Jangaon district on Monday have triggered localized flooding and damaged vital road infrastructure.
In Rambojigudem village under Devaruppula mandal, local farmers expressed delight as the village stream’s check dam began overflowing. Despite moderate local rainfall, continuous inflows from upstream catchments completely filled the check dam, causing water to spill over the crest. Villagers noted that the overflowing structure will significantly recharge local groundwater levels, providing crucial relief for upcoming agricultural activities.
However, heavy morning rains disrupted connectivity in Husnabad and Narmetta mandals. The link road connecting Thotapalli in Siddipet district to Jangaon was completely washed away by surging floodwaters, cutting off access for local farmers and commuters. Residents from surrounding villages have appealed to district authorities to immediately allocate funds and rebuild the vital stretch.
Meanwhile, persistent rainfall was reported across several tribal hamlets, including Machupadu, Mangal Banda Thanda, Andhra Thanda, and Mekalagattu in Narmetta and Raghunathpally mandals. Streams overflowed onto main thoroughfares, severely hindering vehicular movement. Local authorities have urged citizens to stay alert and avoid unnecessary travel until floodwaters recede.
