Karimnagar, Sept.14 : As part of the Telangana government’s flagship Chief Minister’s School Breakfast Program, a modern centralized community kitchen constructed at the Karimnagar Market Yard is set to be inaugurated soon. Minister for Transport and BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar, along with key dignitaries, will formally open the facility, which is being operated in partnership with the Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation India.
The initiative was initially launched by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy as a pilot project in Kodangal. Following its success, similar centralized community kitchens were established in Madhira, Manthani, and Mancherial to provide daily morning meals to government school students. The new Karimnagar facility marks the next major expansion of the welfare scheme across Northern Telangana.
Once operational, the Karimnagar kitchen will deliver daily, hygienic, and hot breakfast to 49,025 students enrolled across 669 government schools and 11 government junior colleges. The service will span 17 mandals covering the Karimnagar, Husnabad, Choppadandi, and Manakondur assembly constituencies.
To ensure optimal nutritional balance, the menu was designed in collaboration with the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN). It features daily rotational items including idli-sambar, puri-alu kurma, dosa, upma, millet idli, and bonda, accompanied by milk served on alternate days. The program aims to boost student attendance, improve health metrics, and support academic focus.
