Karimnagar, Sept.16 : Showing swift operational tactics, the Jammikunta police solved the murder case of Bojjapalli Rajababu within 24 hours of receiving information, apprehending seven accused individuals involved in the crime and the subsequent disposal of evidence in Tanugula village.
According to Town Inspector S. Ramakrishna, the victim, Bojjapalli Rajababu, had been engaged in a prolonged land dispute involving his mother, Bojjapalli Lachamma (A-3). Despite a village elders’ mediation dividing the land into three shares—among Lachamma, Rajababu, and his niece Sirichandana—Rajababu demanded sole ownership of the entire property and frequently harassed his family members in an inebriated state.
The conflict escalated on September 10 at around 1:00 PM when an intoxicated Rajababu barged into the residence of his brother-in-law, Jupaka Shankar (A-1), in Tanugula village, and assaulted his mother by pulling her hair. During the altercation, several relatives and associates identified as Jupaka Shankar (A-1), Kavitha (A-2), Lachamma (A-3), Cheti Venkatesh (A-4), Jupaka Satheesh (A-5), Marapelli Rajaiah (A-6), and Jupaka Shankar (A-7) overpowered Rajababu, tied him to a cot, and strangled him using a dupatta (scarf).
To conceal the crime, the suspects wrapped the body in a blanket and transported it on a bicycle during the night to an agricultural field belonging to A-1 on the outskirts of Tanugula. They buried the body in a pit dug with a spade and crowbar, covering it with soil and thorn bushes to prevent detection. Police have recovered the spade, crowbar, bicycle, and the dupatta used in the crime. The Jammikunta police appealed to the public not to take the law into their own hands during civil or domestic disputes and to seek legal remedies through proper administrative channels.
