Hyderabad, Sept.22 : Security forces uncovered and seized a massive Maoist dump containing advanced weaponry and dangerous explosives during an extensive anti-Maoist search operation in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district. The arms cache was unearthed from an underground hideout in the Lanka Pahadi forest area within the jurisdiction of the Bedre Police Station on September 21, 2026.
Acting on specific intelligence, joint teams of police and security personnel raided the forested terrain and recovered two BGL (Barrel Grenade Launcher) launchers, 17 BGL shells, advanced INSAS and SLR rifles, and a highly dangerous Chinese hand grenade. In addition to the explosives, forces seized 49 live rounds of SLR ammunition, 15 pistol rounds, and multiple magazines, effectively thwarting a potential attack planned by the insurgents.
The recovery follows a series of successful counter-insurgency operations launched across Bijapur district throughout September. In recent weeks, security personnel unearthed an AK-47 rifle and a .315-bore pistol in the Bhairamgarh Advada forest, seized 8 kg of gelatin sticks, walkie-talkies, and over 100 live rounds in Farsegarh Bade Alwada, destroyed grenades and detonators in Mirtur Indripal, and recovered BGL launchers in Bhopalpatnam. Following these consecutive arms recoveries, security forces have intensified anti-Maoist combing operations across the Bijapur forest belt.
