Hyderabad, Sept.23 : South Central Railway (SCR) has intensified its drinking water monitoring mechanisms across its network, confirming that all 225 water samples recently collected from Kazipet Railway Station, Kazipet Railway Colony, and Warangal Railway Station passed comprehensive quality and bacteriological safety tests. According to an official press release issued on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, by SCR Chief Public Relations Officer A. Sridhar, no trace of E. coli bacteria was detected in any of the samples, and all tested points recorded adequate residual chlorine levels.
Dr. Nirmala Rajaram, Principal Chief Medical Director (PCMD) of South-Central Railway, personally reviewed the overall water supply infrastructure, which encompasses ground water sources, municipal supply lines, ground-level reservoirs (GLRs), chlorination systems, and distribution pipelines. During a recent special inspection drive at Kazipet Railway Station, Dr. Rajaram verified on-site chlorination levels to ensure the water delivered to passengers and residents strictly meets quality standards. Out of the total tested samples collected between September 9 and September 15, 149 samples were drawn from Kazipet Station and Colony, while 76 samples were collected from Warangal Station.
Following the review, South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava directed railway officials and supervisors to maintain continuous vigilance against water contamination. He instructed medical and engineering staff to conduct regular testing and strict routine maintenance—including periodic cleaning of storage tanks and reservoirs—to ensure that drinking water provided across all stations and railway colonies consistently adheres to the standards prescribed by the Indian Railways Medical Manual.
