Jangaon, Sept. 26: Telangana Minister for Revenue, Housing, and Information & Public Relations Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy declared that the primary goal of the state government is to transform Telangana into a state completely free of thatched huts by providing Indiramma houses to every eligible poor family in a phased manner. Speaking as the chief guest at an official sanction letter distribution ceremony held at the Preston College grounds in Jangaon on Saturday, the Minister distributed house sanction certificates worth ₹5 lakh each directly to 500 beneficiary families currently residing in huts across the constituency.
Minister Srinivas Reddy emphasized that despite facing severe financial constraints, the state administration remains firmly committed to delivering every election promise directly to the doorsteps of the underprivileged. He detailed that under the first phase of the scheme, 4.50 lakh Indiramma houses have been sanctioned statewide, allocating an equal quota of 3,500 homes per constituency. The government is actively working to complete 2.18 lakh units before the upcoming Dussehra festival.
To maintain total transparency, financial assistance is being transferred directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries every Monday based on the verified stage of construction. Furthermore, 2.50 lakh additional homes have been sanctioned in the second phase, alongside financial aid ranging from ₹2 lakh to ₹3 lakh to complete previously abandoned or incomplete housing structures without needing demolition.
Addressing local infrastructure needs, Minister Srinivas Reddy sanctioned an immediate fund of ₹2 crore to repair and complete unfinished double-bedroom houses in Jangaon so they become livable by Dussehra. He also announced ₹25 crore for municipal infrastructure works and directed officials to fast-track pending development projects worth over ₹77 crore.
Highlighting broader governance milestones, Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Jangaon MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, and District Collector Sandeep Kumar Jha outlined key achievements, including 200 units of free power, fine rice distribution, enhanced student hostel diet charges by 40 percent, interest-free loans worth over ₹70,000 crore for women’s self-help groups, and the successful recruitment of over 72,000 government jobs across the state.
