Hanumakonda, Sept.29 : Hanumakonda District Collector Chahat Bajpai ordered an official inquiry against former District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) Ayyub on Tuesday following serious allegations of corruption and irregularities in issuing journalist accreditation cards. The Collector appointed District Revenue Officer (DRO) Srinivas as the inquiry officer to thoroughly investigate the matter and submit a detailed report.
The action came after all ten members of the District Media Accreditation Committee (DMAC) submitted a joint written complaint to the Collector. Committee members alleged that former DPRO Ayyub bypassed the official committee recommendations, misled district authorities, and arbitrarily issued press accreditation cards for the 2026–2028 term to ineligible individuals, including political party aides and family members of certain media personnel.
According to the complaint, the 10-member committee had conducted two rounds of rigorous scrutiny to evaluate every journalist application, approving eligible candidates while putting incomplete applications on hold. However, the former DPRO allegedly set aside the approved lists and issued cards without sharing the final lists with the committee members, denying valid cards to genuine working journalists.
The complaining committee members—including Gadipalli Madhu, B.R. Lenin, Gaddam Kesavamurthy, Maskapuri Sudhakar, Kankanala Santhosh, Bolla Amar, Gokarapu Shyam, Vallala Jagan, N. Buchi Reddy, and Nayeem—urged the administration to examine all application documents and cancel fraudulently obtained cards to uphold transparency and protect journalists’ rights.
