Karimnagar, Oct.4 : Former Choppadandi MLA Sunketa Ravishankar visited Dalit Sarpanch Malyala Tirupati alias Vinay Sagar at the Karimnagar Government Hospital on Sunday, following the BJP leader’s suicide attempt near the Ambedkar Statue at Madhuranagar Chowrasta. Ravishankar strongly condemned the alleged casteist slurs and political harassment targeted at the Kondayapalli Sarpanch, demanding immediate police action against local Congress leaders.
Addressing the media alongside BRS leaders after inquiring about Vinay Sagar’s condition with medical officers, Ravishankar alleged that local MLA Medipalli Satyam and his associates had been relentlessly targeting non-Congress sarpanches. He pointed out that Vinay Sagar had released a video prior to consuming pesticide detailing allegations of caste-based discrimination, verbal abuse, and false cases filed against him for demanding development funds. Ravishankar demanded the immediate registration of an FIR based on the victim’s dying declaration video and called for SC/ST Atrocity cases against those responsible, emphasizing that the failure of local police to act on prior warnings was evident.
Concurrently, Telangana Sarpanches Association JAC Founder State President Survi Yadaiah Goud expressed deep anguish over the incident and demanded a comprehensive government inquiry into the harassment allegations against elected representatives. Stressing that sarpanches request funds solely for village infrastructure rather than personal gain, Yadaiah Goud urged rural leaders not to resort to extreme measures and warned of state-wide agitations if the administration fails to protect elected sarpanches from political intimidation.
