Jagtial, Oct.9 : Setting an inspiring example for future generations, the students and staff of the Mandal Parishad Primary School (MPPS) in Pasigama celebrated an eco-friendly Batukamma festival focused on environmental conservation here in Velgatoor mandal of Jagtial district. During the event, students wore green badges to raise awareness about protecting nature and spreading the message of a sustainable celebration.
Speaking on the occasion, Headmaster Neelam Sampath Kumar emphasized that preserving the environment is the greatest legacy for future generations. He urged families to avoid plastic decorations and instead construct traditional Batukamma floral stacks using naturally available, eco-friendly flowers. Teachers highlighted that linking Telangana’s cultural tradition of Batukamma with ecological awareness instills environmental responsibility, respect for natural resources, and habits like reducing plastic usage in young minds from an early age.
Headmaster Sampath Kumar noted that festivals should protect nature rather than harm it, making this initiative a model for rural communities. The event saw active participation from village Sarpanch Kandrapu Shirisha, teachers Mahesh, Praneetha, and Kaveri, supporting staff Ramakka and Pravalika, ANM Anuradha, ASHA worker Jyothi, Anganwadi teacher Rajeshwari, CA Prameela, and a large number of parents.
