Warangal, Oct.9 : Staging a massive demonstration against frequent power outages, BJP leaders and Kisan Morcha activists laid siege to the Timmapuram electricity sub-station on the Khammam Highway road near Wardhannapet. Led by BJP Kisan Morcha State President Baswapuram Narsaiah and Warangal District President Ganta Ravi Kumar, the protest escalated into a tense standoff as police intervened and detained several senior leaders.
Addressing the gathering, Baswapuram Narsaiah launched a scathing attack on the Congress government, terming its governance a “Tughlaq rule” that has betrayed the farming community. He alleged that despite promising 24-hour uninterrupted free power during elections, the administration is failing to deliver even 5 to 6 hours of quality power daily. Narsaiah stated that standing paddy crops are drying up due to irregular electricity supply, warning that BJP cadres would besiege the Chief Minister’s official residence if continuous power is not restored immediately.
BJP Warangal District President Ganta Ravikumar criticized ruling party leaders for neglecting agricultural distress while remaining confined to air-conditioned offices. He demanded that government officials immediately survey affected fields across Warangal district and provide full financial compensation to farmers whose crops dried up due to the power crisis.
Kisan Morcha State Vice President Malladi Tirupati Reddy and District President Dandu Kishan organized the protest, which saw participation from senior leaders including BJP National Council members Gujjula Premender Reddy and Martineni Dharma Rao, former MLA Kondeti Sridhar, former Mayor Dr. T. Rajeshwar Rao, and state spokesperson Dr. Vannala Venkataramana. The leaders vowed to intensify their state-wide agitation until full-scale power supply and crop compensation are guaranteed.
