Karimnagar, Oct.14 : BJP State Spokesperson, Karimnagar Deputy Mayor, and former Mayor Yadagiri Sunil Rao extended full solidarity to healthcare personnel working under the National Health Mission (NHM) who have embarked on an indefinite strike demanding the immediate resolution of their long-pending grievances. Joining the protesting healthcare workers at their demonstration site, the BJP leader criticized the state government for displaying an indifferent attitude toward staff who risked their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic to safeguard public health.
Addressing the protest gathering, Sunil Rao stated that while the Union Government contributes over 60 percent toward salaries and incentives for NHM staff, the state government has shown severe negligence in releasing its required 40 percent share. He demanded the immediate regularization of all NHM contract and outsourcing employees across Telangana, arguing that such a step would impose no additional financial burden on the state exchequer. He further insisted that, in accordance with Supreme Court directives, the government must enforce proper cadre fixation, pay 100 percent gross salaries, abolish third-party outsourcing agencies, transition all employees under the State Health Society (SHS), and disburse wages directly through the SPARSH portal.
Highlighting additional key charter demands, the BJP spokesperson called for a five percent annual increment, an eight percent loyalty bonus, and 180 days of paid maternity leave for all female NHM employees regardless of cadre rank. He demanded ex-gratia or insurance coverage of ₹20 lakh alongside compassionate appointment for family members of employees who die in the line of duty, as well as comprehensive job security supported by Employee Health Scheme (EHS) and ESI benefits.
Sunil Rao also urged the government to ensure monthly salary disbursement by the 5th of every month as mandated by earlier official orders, clear nine months of pending Pay Revision Commission (PRC) arrears, and implement pay revisions under G.O. Ms. No. 60 and 1195. Warning of intensified state-wide agitation if the administration fails to act promptly, he reiterated that the BJP will stand firmly with NHM workers until all their legitimate demands are addressed.
