Rangareddy, Oct.15 : Telangana Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar attended the official charge-taking ceremony of Chigirintha Parijata Narasimha Reddy as the Ranga Reddy District Congress Committee (DCC) President and extended his warm congratulations. Addressing the gathering, Minister Prabhakar emphasized that the Congress Party has never shied away from political challenges, maintaining that victories and defeats are a natural part of democratic politics.
Criticizing Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the BJP-led central government, Minister Prabhakar accused the ruling party of compromising constitutional principles and weakening autonomous institutions purely to win elections. He highlighted the foundational contributions of past Congress governments, pointing out how the nation progressed from severe food shortages after Independence to exporting millions of metric tonnes of food grains, alongside establishing Navratna public sector units and top-tier educational institutions that produced global industry leaders.
The Minister expressed serious concern over ongoing voter list revision processes across the country, alleging that eligible voters are being deliberately disenfranchised. He cited instances from West Bengal, Bihar, Maharashtra, and Telangana where legitimate voters were removed from rolls, contrasting this with past revisions that strictly removed ineligible entries. He affirmed that under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, Congress will continue its nationwide movement to safeguard democracy, protect the Constitution, and highlight welfare achievements in Telangana.
