Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Oct.19 : Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) Chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha inspected the Pranahita river water and relieve prevailing drought conditions. She warned that if the government fails to construct the coffer dam at Kannepalli by the end of November, her party will launch large-scale protests at the pump house site.
Addressing flow at the Kannepalli pump house in the Kaleshwaram project area alongside party leaders, urging the state government to immediately construct a coffer dam to divert
media personnel, Kavitha presented a technical proposal, stating that constructing a 93-meter coffer dam at Kannepalli at an estimated cost of ₹25 crore within 45 days would allow lifting two TMCs of Pranahita water daily to recharge Annaram, Sundilla, and upstream reservoirs without relying on Medigadda barrage. She criticized both the previous BRS regime for spending ₹93,000 crore on Kaleshwaram while irrigating only one lakh new acres due to incomplete canal networks, and the current Congress government for failing to provide irrigation despite severe crop distress.
Emphasizing that standing crops across 1.10 crore acres urgently require water and power supply, she urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to rise above political fault-finding and implement practical engineering solutions. She cautioned that failing to harness flowing river waters during El Niño-induced dry spells could trigger acute drinking water and livelihood crises across Northern Telangana.
