Hanumakonda, July 16 : Station Ghanpur MLA and former Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari stated that the Devadula Lift Irrigation Scheme remains the primary lifeline for meeting the irrigation and drinking water needs of the undivided Warangal district, particularly amid rain deficits caused by the nationwide El Niño effect.
Speaking at Dharmasagar mandal headquarters on Thursday after inaugurating developmental works worth ₹92 lakh, including newly laid CC roads and completed Indiramma houses, Srihari expressed profound professional satisfaction over his involvement with the Devadula project. He explained that Godavari waters reach the Dharmasagar reservoir in the first phase, from where water is systematically pumped to various regional reservoirs. He assured that all 10 pumps of the project would run continuously for 100 days to assist local farmers and residents.
Turning his focus to welfare, the MLA lauded the Congress government for sanctioning seven lakh Indiramma houses nationwide with a budgetary allocation of ₹35,000 crore within two years. Criticizing the previous BRS administration for failing to deliver on housing promises, he announced that an additional 100 Indiramma houses would be sanctioned for Dharmasagar in the next phase.
Srihari also promised to upgrade the road from the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to Elkurtie Cross into a four-lane highway if local residents cooperate with land requirements, alongside plans to develop the Dharmasagar reservoir into a prominent tourism hub.
