Warangal, July 17 : A rare Asian palm civet, locally known as ‘Punugu Pilli’ made a surprise appearance at the newly constructed Pochamma temple here in Mamnoor of Warangal district on Friday.
The unexpected sighting occurred just as the auspicious Ashadha month commenced, marking the beginning of the festive preparations for the annual Bonalu festival.
The presence of the elusive, nocturnal mammal quickly became a major talking point among local residents, drawing several curious devotees to the temple premises. Worshippers have hailed the animal’s arrival during this highly spiritual period as a sacred blessing and a positive omen for the entire region.
Surrounded by lush greenery and a peaceful natural landscape, the quiet temple grounds likely attracted the wild creature out from its natural habitat. To celebrate this unique event and express their devotion, local folk artists gathered at the venue to perform traditional songs, adding a vibrant cultural touch to the festive atmosphere.
