Mancherial, July 23 : Panic gripped the Mahatma Jyothiba Phule Backward Classes Welfare Girl’s Residential School in Bellampalli town of Mancherial district on Thursday after approximately 30 students fell ill due to suspected food poisoning.
The affected students began experiencing severe stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting shortly after consuming breakfast provided at the school hostel. School staff alerted local authorities and rushed the ailing girls to the Bellampalli Government Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Attending doctors reported that while a few students were admitted in critical condition, the majority are responding well to treatment and remain stable under close medical supervision.
Distressed parents gathered at the hospital premises, expressing outrage over repeated food safety lapses in state-run welfare residential institutions. Education and welfare department officials visited the school campus and hospital to inspect the situation, collecting food and drinking water samples for laboratory analysis. Authorities assured strict administrative action against school management or catering personnel if negligence is established during the investigation.
