Mulug, August 01 : The Panchayat Raj Minister Seethakka inspected the flood situation along the Godavari River and visited a rehabilitation center at the Zilla Parishad High School in Mangapet mandal of Mulugu district. Accompanied by District Collector Borkhade Hemanth Sahadevarao, SP Sudheer Ramnath Kekan, and ITDA PO Lenin Vassal Toppo, the Minister interacted with affected residents and assured them of full government support.
During her visit, Minister Seethakka inspected the ongoing construction of the Mangapet Godavari bund and enquired about the facilities provided to 112 members of 28 families who were shifted to relief camps due to backwater flooding. She instructed officials to ensure that all basic amenities including food, drinking water, medical care, and proper sanitation are seamlessly provided at the shelter centers. She also announced that the government would take concrete steps to construct permanent houses for families in flood-prone areas, urging residents not to panic.
The inspection comes as heavy rains in upstream catchment areas, Medigadda Barrage, and the Indravathi basin triggered a sharp rise in Godavari water levels over the past three days. At the Ramannagudem gauge station in Eturnagaram mandal, water levels crossed the first danger mark (14.83 meters) early on July 31, rapidly reaching the second warning level (15.83 meters) by 5:20 AM, and touching the third warning level (17.33 meters) by 10:00 PM that night.
District authorities, alongside Irrigation, Revenue, and Police officials, have been directed to remain on high alert and maintain continuous vigilance across all riverine villages to execute immediate relief and rescue operations as needed.
