SP Akhil Mahajan revealed details of the operation of inter-state Bangladeshi theft gang cracked by police to the media persons
Adilabad, August 03 : The Adilabad police have busted an illegal interstate burglary gang involving Bangladeshi nationals who operated across seven Indian states using fake Aadhaar cards for nine years. Addressing a press conference on Monday, District Superintendent of Police (SP) Akhil Mahajan revealed details of the operation.
According to the SP, primary accused Md Jani Ali and Md Romans Ali, hailing from Dinajpur district in Bangladesh, illegally entered India and forged Aadhaar credentials to carry out thefts. Jani Ali formed a 12-member gang targeting locked houses across Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Karnataka, and Chhattisgarh. Having entered India on July 11, the gang stole vehicles in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra before arriving in Adilabad.
The gang operated under the guise of selling cookers and grinders during daytime to conduct reconnaissance on locked homes before committing burglaries at night. A recent break-in targeted the residence of senior Congress leader and assembly in-charge Kandi Srinivas Reddy in Kailasnagar colony of Adilabad.
Police arrested Md Jani Ali, Md Romans Ali, and associate Tarun Singh from Bhopal, while launching a manhunt for nine absconding members. Stolen property worth Rs.8 lakh including 73.05 grams of gold, 151.30 grams of silver, iPhones, an iPad, and a motorcycle was recovered. SP Akhil Mahajan commended Mavala CI BD Prem Kumar, Cyber Crime SI Gopi Krishna, and their team for successfully cracking the case.
