Mahabubabad, Aug. 28: A three-day National Sports Day celebration commenced on a grand note at the TGMRS Boys School–1 in Mahabubabad today. Organized under the direction of the Sports Authority of Telangana, the events are being held under the slogan ‘Khelega Bharat – Jeetega Bharat’ from August 28 to 30.
Attending as the chief guest, District Youth and Sports Officer Dr. O. Jyothi inaugurated the event by paying floral tributes to Indian hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand to mark his birth anniversary. Speaking on the occasion, she emphasized that active participation in sports from student life helps build essential values like discipline, sportsmanship, and physical fitness.
Dr. Jyothi encouraged students to pursue sports as a viable career option and bring national and international fame to the country. The school principal, teaching staff, and a large number of students actively participated in the inaugural program.
