Bhadradri Kothagudem, Aug.29 : A 28-year-old interior designer from Hyderabad, identified as Shiva, was brutally beaten to death by a local youth gang named the Manuguru Kandhar (MK) Group in Manuguru of Bhadradri Kothagudem district. Shiva had returned to his hometown to celebrate the Rakhi festival with his family. In a heartbreaking moment following the tragedy, his grieving sister tied a final Rakhi to his body before the last rites.
Police reports reveal that Shiva had previously warned members of the MK Group for harassing the sister of one of his workers, Satish. Holding a grudge, gang leader Rammy and his associates summoned Shiva to the Area Store grounds under the pretext of resolving the issue. When Shiva arrived, around 30 members of the gang launched a coordinated mob attack, punching and kicking him viciously. The severe assault fractured his ribs and ruptured his lungs, causing him to collapse and die on the spot, while his friend Uday Kumar sustained serious injuries attempting to save him.
The police have registered a case against seven key suspects under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including 103(2) and 190, and have launched a manhunt to arrest the absconding gang members. Local residents expressed outrage over the incident, alleging that the 80-member strong MK Group routinely terrorizes the neighborhood, and demanded immediate police intervention to dismantle the gang.
