Jagtial, Sept.27 : Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught Daroju Padma, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of Metpally in Jagtial district, red-handed while she was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 63,000. The officer was trapped by the ACB’s Karimnagar unit outside her office premises on Saturday following a complaint.
According to ACB officials, the CDPO demanded a monthly bribe of Rs 1,000 from each of the 21 Anganwadi centers operating under the Metpally urban sector to refrain from making adverse remarks during routine inspections. The total bribe amount of Rs 63,000 was collected for a three-month period at the rate of Rs 3,000 per center. Following the trap operation, ACB officials recovered the tainted cash directly from her possession.
Following her arrest, the officer is being produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases in Karimnagar to be remanded into judicial custody. Urging the public to report corrupt public servants, ACB officials highlighted that complaints can be lodged via their toll-free number 1064 or through their official helpline channels.
