Khammam, Oct.2 : Two separate fatal road accidents in Khammam district left two people dead and several others critically injured on Thursday night. In the first incident near Mangapuram Stage in Tallada mandal, a DCM van heading towards Hyderabad attempted to overtake a vehicle and collided head-on with an oncoming Ashok Leyland vehicle traveling from Khammam to Sattupalli.
The driver of the DCM van, identified as 60-year-old Baldev Yadav, suffered fatal head injuries and was declared dead on arrival at the Khammam Government Hospital. In a separate incident in Raghunathapalem mandal, a speeding auto-rickshaw carrying agricultural laborers collided with a crusher lorry near the Koyachelaka crossroad and overturned. A female laborer hailing from Kamanchikal village in Khammam Rural mandal died on the spot, while two others sustained critical injuries while returning home from farm work in Irlapudi village. Preliminary investigations suggest driver negligence led to the collision. The injured were rushed to the Khammam Government Hospital for emergency treatment.
Following the tragic crash at Koyachelaka, Khammam Town ACP Ramanamurthy, Traffic Inspector Shivaprasad, and Roads & Buildings (R&B) department officials personally inspected the accident site. The officials assessed road curvature, traffic flow, and hazardous spots along the stretch. ACP Ramanamurthy directed the concerned departments to immediately install warning signboards, road markings, and proper lighting to prevent similar fatal accidents in the future.
