Karimnagar, Oct.2 : Former Minister Koppula Eshwar launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, alleging that the Congress government is operating a “Police Raj” focused entirely on political vendetta against BRS leaders while abandoning public welfare. Addressing a press conference at the Subha Mangali Banquet Hall in Karimnagar on Friday, Eshwar strongly condemned the preventive morning arrests of BRS activists during Revanth Reddy’s recent visit to Sircilla, describing it as an autocratic assault on democratic rights and citizens of the region.
Accompanied by former legislators Vidyasagar Rao, Sunke Ravishankar, Naradasu Laxman Rao, former Mayor Sardar Ravinder Singh, and several local leaders, Eshwar accused the Chief Minister of prioritizing personal attacks against BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao, K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), and T. Harish Rao instead of fulfilling electoral promises. He asserted that despite being in power, the Congress administration has failed to implement its six guarantees and 420 promises, leaving farmers distressed due to lack of irrigation water, fertilizer shortages, incomplete loan waivers, and delayed paddy procurement.
Highlighting the plight of the powerloom sector in Sircilla, the former minister noted that while the previous KCR government transformed the region by placing bulk orders for Bathukamma sarees, school uniforms, and Rajiv Aarogyasri linens alongside providing a 40% yarn subsidy, the current administration has pushed weavers into distress by withholding orders and pending dues. He also slammed the government for failing Gulf workers by neglecting promised welfare boards, shutting down the ‘Dalit Bandhu’ scheme, and failing to release white papers on revenue and land acquisitions while enforcing repressive measures like Section 30 of the Police Act in Rajanna Sircilla district.
Refuting allegations leveled against KTR, Eshwar stated that insulting an educated leader who served Sircilla for six consecutive terms as an MLA reflects political degeneration. He further questioned Revanth Reddy’s moral authority to talk about integrity, recalling his alleged involvement in the cash-for-vote scam. Demanding that the state government immediately stop victimizing political opponents and focus on fulfilling its welfare commitments, Eshwar warned that the public will hold the Congress leadership accountable for its unfulfilled promises.
