Warangal, Oct.6 : Protesting against government apathy and delays in completing the underground drainage project in Shivanagar, BJP Warangal District President Ganta Ravikumar led a unique agitation on Tuesday. Under the leadership of Shivanagar Mandal President Mohammad Rafi, BJP leaders and cadres protested on the damaged road filled with drainage pits by sprinkling cow dung water (aluku neellu) to symbolically wake up the administration.
Addressing the protesters, Ravikumar strongly criticized local ministers and MLAs for neglecting Shivanagar. He expressed anger over the endless hardships faced by residents during rains, including severe waterlogging and foul smell. He questioned why rulers treat Shivanagar with discrimination while expecting votes during elections, warning of intensified public protests if the issues remain unresolved.
Ravikumar highlighted that despite allocating around Rs 75 crore for the underground drainage project, works have been progressing at a snail’s pace for the past four years due to administrative inefficiency. He noted that former MLC Konda Murali and officials had previously inspected the road and promised to complete the works within ten days, yet months have passed with no action taken on the ground.
Shivanagar Mandal President Mohammad Rafi warned that unsafe roads with open drainage pits pose a serious threat to public safety. BJP leaders declared that if the drainage and road works are not completed on a war footing, they will besiege both the municipal office and the local MLA’s residence. Numerous district BJP leaders and workers participated in the protest.
