Khammam, July 18 : Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy launched a series of developmental projects worth Rs.4.61 crores across the Palair constituency here in Khammam district on Saturday.
Accompanied by the District Collector T. S. Diwakara local public representatives, and political leaders, the minister toured several villages in the Kusumanchi mandal to lay foundation stones and distribute welfare benefits.
During his visit to Mallaigudem, the minister laid the foundation stone for a Rs.2.52 crore BT road linking the Perikasingaram NSP canal to Mallaigudem via Bhagwan Tanda. He also performed the ground-breaking ceremony for a new Gram Panchayat office building estimated at Rs.20 lakh.
Additionally, at Kokya Tanda, he initiated another BT road project worth Rs.1.69 crore from Lingaram Tanda to the Lokya Tanda NSP canal, followed by laying the foundation for an Agraharam Gram Panchayat building worth Rs.20 lakh.
Later, at the government camp office in Kusumanchi, Minister Srinivas Reddy distributed Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak cheques to 66 beneficiaries. He also handed over Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) financial aid cheques worth Rs.35.16 lakh to 111 individuals.
Addressing the gathering, the minister issued an advisory to the farming community in light of weather forecasts predicting lower rainfall due to the El Nino effect. He urged farmers to shift away from water-intensive paddy cultivation and embrace alternative, low-water dryland crops. He further advised them to consult agricultural scientists and officers to adapt their farming techniques according to changing weather patterns.
