Khammam, July 19 : A 27-year-old newlywed man allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a canal in Raghunathapalem mandal here in Khammam district on Sunday night, following continuous harassment and humiliation by his wife and her family members. The victim has been identified as Bhukya Sadar Lal, a graduate and goat trader from Ramkyathanda village.
According to the police, Sadar Lal married a woman from Haryathanda in May this year. Within days of the wedding, disputes arose as his wife reportedly began humiliating him by making false allegations regarding his masculinity. Family members alleged that the woman had a pre-marital love affair and used these slurs to continue her relationship.
The situation worsened during a recent festive visit to his in-laws’ house, where Sadar Lal was publicly insulted. Distressed by the humiliation, Sadar Lal left on his motorcycle, called his brother-in-law to share his location, and stated he was ending his life.
Rescuers later recovered his body from the V. Venkatayapalem Sagar main canal. Police found his two-wheeler, phone, and a weedicide bottle on the canal bank. Raghunathapalem CI Usman Sharif stated that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
