Karimnagar, July 19 : The Emirates Telangana Cultural and Welfare Assocation (ETCA) grandly celebrated the Sri Mahankali Ammavari Bonalu festival at Maitri Farms in Ras AI Khaimah in United Arabs Emirates (UAE).
Over 400 Telangana expatriates and their families from various emirates gathered to participate in the traditional festivities. Marking ETCA’s fourth consecutive year organizing the event, the celebration featured special rituals including Gouramma Puja, Bonalu offerings, Kumkumarchana, Maha Harathi, and Deepotsavam.
The highlight of the festival was a vibrant procession featuring women in traditional silk sarees carrying decorated ‘Bonam’ pots on their heads. The atmosphere resonated with the beats of Oggu Dolu drums and performances by Pothuraju dancers, beautifully recreating the cultural essence of Telangana on foreign soil.
Maitri Group founder Kotha Jaipal Reddy, who attended as the chief guest, praised ETCA members for preserving and passing down Telangana’s cultural heritage to future generations. ETCA Founder-President Kiran Kumar Peechara and President Jagadish Rao Cheeti stated that educating children born abroad about their native roots remains the organization’s primary mission. Attendees expressed gratitude to the organizers, noting that the event made them feel as though they were celebrating in their own home villages.
The event concluded with the distribution of Maha Prasadam and a community feast serving traditional Telangana cuisine. Key ETCA organizers, including Srinivasa Eligeti, Rani Kotla, Sekhar Goud, Tirumal Rao and several executive members successfully coordinated the grand cultural gathering.
