Mulugu, July 21 : Vehicular movement came to a complete halt on the key arterial route connecting Cherukuru, Peruru, Bhupalpatham and Bijapur on Tuesday after floodwaters damaged a temporary access road at Isuka Vagu near Cheekupally village in Wazedu mandal of Mulugu district.
Heavy rainfall over the past two days led to a sudden surge of floodwater in Isuka Vagu, weakening and washing away parts of the temporary road constructed alongside an ongoing permanent bridge project. The disruption left commuters stranded and severely impacted inter-state and local travel, prompting residents to appeal to authorities for quick restoration.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Eturnagaram Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Manan Bhatt along with Venkatapuram CI Ramesh, Wazeedu SI Satish, and other police personnel, rushed to the spot to inspect the damaged structure. Assessing that the damaged pathway posed a severe hazard to commuters, the ASP immediately ordered the installation of heavy barricades on both ends to prevent accidents.
Speaking at the site, ASP Manan Bhatt stated that traffic on both sides has been strictly prohibited until repair works are completed. He assured the public that authorities are working to restore road connectivity at the earliest and requested full cooperation from local residents and commuters during the temporary closure.
