Karimnagar, July 22 : In a terrifying late-night heist, an eight-members gang of masked armed dacoits barged into a house in Bhagat Nagar Chowrastha in Karimnagar and looted around 60 tolas of gold ornaments, silver articles, Rs.20 lakh to Rs.21 lakh in cash, and two two-wheelers. The incident created widespread panic across the town.
The robbery took place at midnight when the homeowner stepped outside to turn off an exterior light. The masked miscreants ambushed him from behind and forcibly dragged him inside. Over the next hour and a half, the gang held four family members including elderly individuals at gunpoint and knifepoint, tying them up while holding them hostage. To drown out the victims’ cries for help, the robbers turned up the volume on the television set.
The gang stripped the victims of their gold chains, finger rings, and even forcefully cut off their earrings before looting the house. After packing the valuables and cash, the robbers stole two parked two-wheelers from the neighbourhood to make their escape.
Following a phone call from Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar inquiring about the incident, Karimnagar Commissioner of Police (CP) Gaush Alam visited the crime scene and confirmed that dedicated clues teams and special task forces had been deployed to catch the perpetrators.
“A total of eight robbers were involved in this heist. Based on preliminary evidence, we suspect that someone known to the family helped plan the crime, and the gang appears to be from Meerut,” said CP. “Special teams have been formed to investigate, and a team is being dispatched directly to Meerut to track down the suspects,” he added.
