Hanumakonda, July 22 : Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Energy, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, accompanied by minister Konda Surekha and Ponnam Prabhakar inaugurated and laid foundation stones for various power development projects worth Rs.56 crore at the Telangana Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGNPDCL) Corporate Office in Hanumakonda on Wednesday. The initiatives include setting up four new 33/11 kV substations, constructing a new Hanumakonda Circle Office, expanding corporate facilities, and commissioning a new substation at the Double Bedroom Colony.
Speaking during a high-level review meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister revealed that Telangana’s power grid successfully managed a massive 7,000 MW additional burden caused by adverse El Nino weather conditions, erratic monsoon demand, and a 2,000 MW shortfall in hydel power generation. He clarified that the state is experiencing no scheduled power cuts. He commended field staff for their round-the-clock efforts and highlighted outreach programs like Praja Bata and Polam Bata for directly resolving consumer grievances on the ground.
The Minister announced that Telangana has launched India’s first ‘Electricity Ambulance’ service, paired with an AI-enabled 1912 helpline. Similar to emergency medical services, these specialized vehicles, crewed by technical engineers and equipped with transformers, ladders, and spare parts are dispatched automatically via AI algorithms to fix local power faults within minutes of a consumer logging a call. He announced a Rs.1.20 crore accidental death insurance cover for electricity employees performing hazardous duties, alongside mandatory safety kits.
The meeting was attended by Hanumakonda District Collector Chahat Bajpai, Warangal District Collector Dr. Satya Sharada, Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation Commissioner T. Venkanna, TGNPDCL CMD Karnati Varun Reddy, and other senior officials.
