Bhongiri, July 23 : The Minister for forests, environment and Endowments, Konda Surekha participated in the Poornahuti ceremony of the ‘Varuna Yagam’ held here at Sri Lakshmi Narashimha Swamy temple in Yadagirigutta on Thursday.
The special Vedic ritual was organized under the directives of the Endowments Department to pray for bountiful rains, agricultural prosperity, and environmental balance across the state. Accompanied by Vedic scholars and priests reciting ancient hymns, Minister Konda Surekha offered sacred oblations to the sacrificial fire (Homaagni).
Speaking on the occasion, she emphasized that worshipping nature is an integral part of Indian culture, describing the ritual not merely as a religious ceremony, but as a collective prayer for the well-being of farmers and the general public.
The Minister highlighted that the state government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, is taking administrative measures to mitigate the delayed monsoon caused by the El Nino phenomenon. She noted that invoking divine blessings alongside human effort reflects the government’s respect for public faith and traditional practices. She prayed to Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy for the prosperity of the farming community, healthy crops, and abundant water in the state’s reservoirs and rivers.
Earlier, Temple Executive Officer Bhavani Shankar, Deputy EO Bhaskar, along with head priests, extended a traditional ceremonial welcome to the Minister upon her arrival. Following the completion of the ritual, the priests offered Vedic blessings (Vedashirvachanam) and presented temple prasadam to the Minister. Alair MLA and Government Whip Beerla Ilaiah, Trust Board member Lakshmi Narayana Naik, and several local public representatives were present at the event.
