Karimnagar, August 12 : Former MP and BRS leader Boinpally Vinod Kumar demanded the immediate removal of the proposal seeking to cancel permissions for seven Telangana irrigation projects from the agenda of the upcoming 18th Godavari River Management Board (GRMB) meeting. Speaking at a press conference at MLA Gangula Kamalakar’s residence on Wednesday, the former lawmaker criticized the inclusion of the item following a request by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Vinod Kumar emphasized that the Telangana statehood movement was fought for “water, funds, and employment,” asserting that all projects constructed under the previous KCR administration had secured statutory clearances. He expressed strong indignation over the agenda item and asked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy to clarify the state government’s official stance on the issue.
Questioning the silence of Congress and BJP MPs from Telangana, Vinod Kumar termed their inaction in Parliament shameful. He urged all state MPs to immediately lead a delegation to Delhi, meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and ensure the proposal is withdrawn prior to the August 18 meeting scheduled in Hyderabad.
Warning that revoking project approvals would trigger catastrophic consequences for Telangana’s agricultural sector, the BRS leader gave an ultimatum to drop the proposal from the GRMB agenda by August 18, threatening state-wide agitation if the demand is not met.
