Karimnagar, Sept.26 : Tensions escalated in Narayanapur village under Gangadhara mandal on Saturday as angry flood-affected residents confronted visiting Mining and Geology Department officials. Learning about the development, senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Kotta Jayapal Reddy rushed to the spot, where aggrieved villagers poured out their grievances regarding their ongoing 50-day relay hunger strike over displacement and lack of government relief.
Expressing solidarity with the protesters, Jayapal Reddy strongly condemned ministers representing the combined Karimnagar district for showing a complete lack of empathy toward the submerged village victims. He criticized leaders including D. Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, Laxman, and Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar for failing to visit the village despite being located barely 20 kilometers away, while hundreds of families with young children continue their agitation on the streets.
Jayapal Reddy alleged that instead of supporting the suffering residents, the government was spending hundreds of crores on publicity schemes while police cases were being registered against the flood victims. Demanding immediate government intervention to declare the entire village as submerged and deliver full compensation, he warned that BRS along with the villagers would lay siege to the residences of the combined district ministers if their demands were not met without delay.
