Hanumakonda, Sept.30 : Telangana Udyamakarula Vedika State Chairman Prof. Kurapati Venkatanarayana demanded that the state government seize thousands of acres of land illegally occupied by leaders of the previous BRS regime and redistribute them among genuine statehood activists. Addressing a press conference at his residence in Balasamudram on Wednesday alongside organizational leaders, he alleged that key figures in the former administration amassed vast wealth and constructed sprawling palatial farmhouses ranging from 10 to 700 acres through illegal land grabbing and misuse of the Dharani portal.
Prof. Venkatanarayana criticized the BRS government for ignoring the sacrifices of 1,560 martyr families and neglecting thousands of activists who fought during the first and second phases of the Telangana statehood movement. Activist leaders Chilla Rajendra Prasad, Daram Janardhan, Saini Narender, Bommineni Papi Reddy, and Dommati Praveen noted that public dissatisfaction with such corruption led to the party’s severe defeat in the 2023 Assembly elections and its total rout in the subsequent Lok Sabha polls.
Welcoming the ongoing government investigations into land irregularities, the leaders urged the administration to appoint a committee headed by retired Supreme Court judges to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into corrupt officials and politicians across all districts, rather than limiting probes to areas surrounding Hyderabad, Suryapet, Mahabubnagar, and Nizamabad. They emphasized that the inquiry must cover officers across Revenue, Registration, Irrigation, Roads & Buildings, Electricity, and Medical departments to ensure strict legal punishment and recover looted public assets as promised in the Congress election manifesto.
