Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Aug.20 : The Chityala police in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district have arrested four individuals in connection with a violent assault on RB News reporter Chiru, alias Ravinder, and the vandalism of his residence. Bhupalpally DSP A. Sampath Rao announced that police apprehended the suspects near the Kailapur village outskirts, seized a Swift car used in the crime, and produced them before a magistrate, after which they were remanded to Parkal jail.
According to the police, the attack stemmed from a land dispute between primary accused Bojjam Venu and Abbengula Rajaiah over property in the Nawabpet outskirts. Enraged over Ravinder broadcasting news reports and sharing social media updates regarding the dispute, Venu plotted revenge. On August 17, after attending a venture launch event near the Bhupalpally Medical College, Venu gathered his uncle Mengani Nataraj and six accomplices, arriving at the reporter’s home in Chityala in three cars.
The assailants forcibly entered the house when Ravinder opened the door, brutally assaulting him, choking his neck, and banging his head against a wall until he lost consciousness. They threatened his wife when she tried to intervene and destroyed household appliances, including a television, refrigerator, and gas stove, before fleeing the scene. The arrested individuals have been identified as Bojjam Venu (24), Mengani Nataraj (37), Mokkirala Pranay (29), and Goli Akhil (30), while police recovered a white Maruti Swift car (TS-16-FH-9089) used during the offense.
DSP Sampath Rao stated that efforts are underway to arrest five remaining absconding suspects: Madhuvamshi, Mahesh, Rajesh, Prashanth, and Arif. He issued a stern warning that strict legal action would be taken against anyone taking the law into their own hands or launching physical attacks. Chityala CI D. Mallesh, SI Pochampalli Satheesh, and other police personnel were present at the press conference.
