Karimnagar, Oct.9 : The Karimnagar District Cricket Association (KDCA), under the aegis of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), is hosting a nine-day intensive residential Women’s Cricket Coaching Camp at the VJR Cricket Ground and Academy in Alugunur from October 10 to 18. The initiative forms part of HCA’s state-wide program aimed at extending professional coaching, infrastructure, and competitive exposure to promising women cricketers across rural and district regions of Telangana.
The Karimnagar center caters to players selected from Karimnagar, Adilabad, Medak, and Nizamabad districts, while a parallel camp in Mahabubnagar accommodates players from Mahabubnagar, Warangal, Nalgonda, and Khammam. Approximately 100 women cricketers across eight districts are undergoing structured training under professional coaches, supported by fitness trainers, physiotherapists, team managers, and video analysts to refine their technical skills and match readiness.
Following the completion of the coaching modules, four district teams will be drafted to compete in an inter-district tournament in Karimnagar alongside four teams selected from Hyderabad and Rangareddy. Based on performances in the tournament, around 50 top players will be shortlisted for an advanced residential training camp in Hyderabad to prepare for higher-level state selections.
Welcoming the initiative, KDCA President V. Agam Rao stated that decentralized coaching camps are essential for unearthing grassroots talent that often goes unnoticed in remote districts. KDCA office-bearers, including Vice Presidents Muralidhar Rao and Mahendar Goud, and Secretary Manohar Rao, expressed their gratitude to SMC Justice Naveen Rao, HCA Secretary Manne Jeevan Reddy, and HCA Women’s Cricket Development Head Sunitha Anand for expanding developmental opportunities for women athletes.
