Karimnagar, Sept.22 : The Karimnagar Police busted a major multi-crore investment fraud scheme by arresting three key accused, including the prime suspect, from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. The suspects operated under the banner of Shreya Infra and Marketing Private Limited, luring investors across several states with promises of exorbitant returns before absconding with public funds.
The arrested individuals were identified as the company’s prime operator, Hemanth Kumar Rai, alongside his associates Rajesh Kumar and Brijesh Kumar Mishra. According to police, the company was established in Lucknow in 2020 and operated a pyramid-style network marketing scheme, promising investors double or triple their principal within short timeframes. The perpetrators used funds collected from new investors to pay off earlier clients to build credibility, appointing regional agents across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and other states to aggressively expand their network.
The scam unraveled when the company abruptly stopped making payouts to investors in May 2024. Following a complaint filed by a victim named Guguloth Shivaraju at the Karimnagar I-Town Police Station, Karimnagar Commissioner of Police Gaush Alam transferred the case to the Crime Investigation Section (CCS). A special police team led by CCS Inspector R. Prakash Gouda traveled to Lucknow, apprehended the trio at their residence on the night of September 18, 2026, and seized their mobile devices.
The suspects were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Lucknow and brought to Karimnagar on a transit warrant. Commissioner of Police Gaush Alam commended Inspector Prakash Gouda, Sub-Inspector D. Mahipal Reddy, and their team for successfully tracking down the suspects. The police requested all affected victims of the fraud to approach their nearest police station or the Karimnagar CCS office as the investigation continues.
