Jagtial, Sept.24 : As part of the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign, an awareness program focused on waste management and environmental conservation was conducted for students at the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in Kallur Gram Panchayat of Korutla mandal in Jagtial district on Thursday. The event aimed to educate young students on practical sustainability habits, including converting household waste into useful items and practicing systematic waste segregation at the source.
During the session, resource persons demonstrated ‘Waste to Wealth’ concepts, explaining how discarded household materials can be upcycled into reusable, value-added products. Students were given detailed instructions on the four-way waste segregation method, highlighting the importance of separating dry, wet, hazardous, and recyclable waste to reduce landfill impact and protect the local ecosystem.
To reinforce the learning, organizers conducted a quiz competition covering four-way waste segregation and solid waste management principles, with prizes awarded to winning students. The event witnessed active participation from the local Sarpanch, Panchayat Secretary, KGBV teaching staff, and students, who collectively reaffirmed that cleanliness and proper waste segregation are shared community responsibilities.
