Jagtial, Sept.17 : Jagtial Police have arrested Haribabu for the horrific murder of his pregnant wife, Vaishnavi, a popular regional YouTuber, over additional dowry demands. Metpalli DSP Ramulu presented the accused before the media, confirming that Vaishnavi was four months pregnant when she was brutally killed with a knife at their home in Ayyappagutta.
According to police, the couple, who had a love marriage a year ago, jointly ran a YouTube channel with over 58,000 subscribers. However, disputes began arising after Haribabu, influenced by his family members, started repeatedly harassing Vaishnavi for extra dowry. The harassment escalated into a heated argument on Monday night, leading Haribabu to attack and kill her in the early hours of Tuesday, March 17.
Family members found Vaishnavi lying in a pool of blood later that morning and lodged an immediate police complaint after Haribabu fled the scene. Special police teams tracked down and arrested Haribabu on Tuesday night near the outskirts of Korutla. Officers recovered the murder weapon and the motorcycle used by the suspect to flee the crime scene.
A criminal case has been registered against Haribabu, his mother Lakshmi, and his two brothers, Anand and Ashok, for their involvement in dowry harassment and murder. Haribabu has been presented in court and sent to judicial remand, while law enforcement teams are actively searching for the remaining three absconding family members.
