Hanumakonda, Oct.14 : The Kakatiya University Part-Time Teachers Association has demanded that the Telangana government regularize temporary and part-time lecturers working with full workloads across state universities before initiating new permanent faculty recruitments under G.O. Ms. No. 31. Association President Dr. Y. Rambabu raised the demand during an executive meeting held at the Subedari PG College under the chairmanship of General Secretary Narendra Nayak.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Rambabu stated that guidelines released under G.O. Ms. No. 31 for faculty recruitment across 12 state universities fail to provide job security or career benefits to part-time lecturers who have served higher education institutions for decades. He argued that the state government should extend the same relaxations and provisions to full-workload part-time lecturers as those granted to contract lecturers during recruitment drives. He questioned the justification for overlooking veteran faculty members while pursuing fresh appointments.
The association demanded immediate regularization for part-time lecturers managing complete teaching workloads, alongside special weightage in recruitment scoring for part-time faculty carrying partial workloads. Key association representatives, including Dr. Tirunahari Sheshu, Dr. Devoji Nayak, Dr. Saritha, Dr. Bhikshapathi, Dr. Kiran Kumar, Dr. Sreedhar, and Dr. Vallapareddy Muralidhar, attended the meeting and pledged to continue their agitation until their grievances are addressed.
