Rajanna Sircilla, Oct.16 : The prominent temple town of Vemulawada in Rajanna Sircilla district celebrated Saddula Bathukamma on the seventh day of the festival on Friday, October 16. While Bathukamma is traditionally celebrated over nine days across Telangana, Vemulawada uniquely completes Saddula Bathukamma on the seventh day based on the worship of Saptamatrikas (Brahmi, Maheshwari, Kaumari, Vaishnavi, Varahi, Indrani, and Chamundi). This traditional timeline allows local women to celebrate the festival with their parental families before returning to join celebrations with their in-laws elsewhere.
Government Whip and Vemulawada MLA Adi Srinivas, along with District Collector Garima Agrawal and SP Mahesh B. Gite, reviewed and participated in the immersion festivities. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Adi Srinivas highlighted that the state government and municipal administration allocated ₹34 lakh to construct a new Bathukamma float (Teppa), arrange decorative lighting, ensure sanitation, and set up smooth immersion points along Moola Vagu and nearby check dams for over 25,000 floral arrangements and nearly 50,000 devotees.
District Collector Garima Agrawal extended festive greetings to all residents, praying for health, prosperity, and peace under the blessings of Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy. The local administration, municipal councilors, and police personnel coordinated seamlessly to ensure drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, and comprehensive security measures throughout the town for a peaceful celebration.
