Rajanna Sircilla, Sept. 13 : Renowned handloom artisan Veldi Hari Prasad from Sircilla has created another masterpiece by weaving the divine history of Goddess Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari onto a silk saree. Hari Prasad spent 45 days of intense labor on a traditional handloom to fulfill a custom order placed by Ratnakumari and Koteswara Rao, a couple hailing from Guntur.
The extraordinary 7-meter-long saree incorporates 25 detailed historical illustrations depicting the life story of the deity, alongside the names of 102 sages (rishis) and 102 gotras. Demonstrating exceptional craftsmanship, Hari Prasad meticulously hand-wove each letter, figure, and gotra name directly onto the loom fabric using pure silk thread and two grams of gold zari.
The handloom artwork seamlessly blends devotion, history, spirituality, and traditional Indian culture into a single garment. This creation adds to Hari Prasad’s growing list of feats, coming shortly after he drew widespread acclaim for weaving a matchbox-sized saree on a handloom within 170 minutes.
