Warangal, Oct.7 : A special team of senior officials is set to visit the Warangal Agricultural Market at Enumamula on Thursday to investigate long-standing allegations of financial irregularities and corruption. The probe follows multiple complaints submitted to state authorities regarding illegal actions by former market officials.
According to sources, several past market secretaries allegedly issued business licenses in violation of prescribed rules and misappropriated market funds. Investigations also remain pending against certain employees over Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) cotton purchase records, as well as a missing documents case involving a former market supervisor whose record books and allotment registers disappeared mysteriously.
Further allegations involve a former senior market secretary who served two years ago. The officer reportedly faced accusations regarding missing motors from grain yards and taking bribes for vegetable market shop allotments and commission agent licenses. Complaints also allege that lakhs of rupees were siphoned off under the guise of official tours over the past three years. Previous inquiries were delayed due to administrative backing, but the file has been reopened following recent top-level administrative changes.
The inquiry team, led by Additional Director Laxmanudu, along with two District Marketing Officers (DMOs) and vigilance personnel, will inspect records and conduct a thorough audit. News of the impending visit has triggered panic among current and former staff members suspected of involvement in the corrupt practices.
