Siddipet, Oct.16 : In a major festive boost for sports infrastructure in the region, the Telangana government has issued formal orders sanctioning a new Kabaddi Academy in Husnabad, Siddipet district. The administrative approval follows continuous efforts by Transport and BC Welfare Minister and local MLA Ponnam Prabhakar to provide structured sports training for rural youth across the constituency.
According to G.O.Rt.No.1660 issued by the Finance (HRM.VII) Department, the residential academy will accommodate 40 promising athletes, providing equal opportunities with seats reserved for 20 boys and 20 girls. To ensure professional management and training, the government approved eight outsourced posts, including dedicated male and female Kabaddi coaches, separate wardens for boys and girls, groundsmen, sweepers, and security personnel.
Local sports enthusiasts and youth welcomed the decision, noting that the Husnabad region has consistently produced skilled Kabaddi players at national and state levels. The establishment of this dedicated residential facility with specialized coaching is expected to identify raw rural talent and groom athletes for international competitions.
