Mulugu, Oct.5 : District Collector Borkhade Hemant Sahadevarao unveiled a ‘Talking Doll’ procured by the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) to educate children about the difference between good touch and bad touch in an accessible and engaging manner. Demonstrations of the doll’s interactive functions were presented to the Collector at his office chamber on Monday.
The DCPU officers demonstrated how the interactive doll articulates responses when specific parts of its body are touched, explaining safe versus unsafe physical contact. Collector Borkhade Hemant Sahadevarao commended the initiative, emphasizing that creating awareness about personal safety is vital for children. He directed officials to utilize the talking doll during awareness sessions across schools to instill confidence in children, encouraging them to report uncomfortable touch or harassment to parents and teachers without fear.
Under the Mission Vatsalya scheme and following directives from the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and District Judge, two talking dolls were procured. Officials informed that one doll will be provided to the District Court, while the other will be stationed at the Bala Raksha Bhavan to be used during school outreach programs addressing child abuse, child marriage, and child rights protection. District Welfare Officer (DWO) Premalatha, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Omkar, Protection Officer Harikrishna, Social Coordinator Suman, and Senior Assistant Shankar were present at the launch.
