Warangal, July 17 : The Task force of the Warangal Police Commissionerate has busted an illegal lottery racket operating under the name of ‘Venkateshwara Car Gift Contest’ here at Ursu Gutta area in Warangal. Three organizers were apprehended for running the unauthorized scheme under the Mills Colony police station limits.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Poojari Suman (36), Samudrala Rakesh (27), and Karjugatta Suresh (32). Acting on credible information under the instructions of Warangal Police Commissioner Shwetha Reddy, the Task Force team, supervised by ACP A. Madhusudhan, conducted a raid at the facility on Thursday.
According to the police, the accused had collected Rs.200 per token from 5,753 gullible citizens under the pretext of holding a lucky draw to win a second-hand car. During the raid, officials seized a white Maruti Brezza car worth Rs.4.70 lakh, 34 lottery books, 5,753 lottery slips valued at Rs.11.50 lakh, six smartphones, and Rs.53,500 in cash.
The seized property and the three accused have been handed over to the Mills Colony Police for further legal action. Police Commissioner Shwetha Reddy warned that strict action would be taken against anyone exploiting the public through unauthorized lotteries.
