Hyderabad, Sept.20 : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that the long-standing dream of an operational airport in the historic city of Warangal will soon become a reality. Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the Chief Minister invited citizens to suggest a suitable name for the upcoming Mamnoor Airport. He highlighted that the state government expedited land acquisition worth ₹295 crore—a project delayed for over a decade under the previous administration—and handed over the required land to the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
The infrastructure development of Mamnoor Airport is structured into three packages. While the initial phases cover compound wall construction across 953 acres, runway development, parking facilities, and sewerage systems, the third package focuses on core passenger facilities. With an allocated budget of ₹213.59 crore, Package 3 includes the construction of an integrated passenger terminal building, Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower, and a dedicated fire station.
Tendering for the final phase is currently underway and scheduled for completion by November 2026. Official sources from the Airports Authority of India indicated that if process timelines proceed as planned, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will lay the foundation stone in December. The state government aims to complete construction on a fast-track basis to resume flight operations, positioning Warangal as a key regional hub for industries, tourism, and employment opportunities.
