Hanumakonda, Sept.26 : Telangana Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGNPDCL) Chairman and Managing Director Karnati Varun Reddy directed officials to take proactive measures across all circles to ensure uninterrupted, high-quality power supply in anticipation of surge in demand during the upcoming Rabi and summer seasons.
Reviewing the summer action plan via video conference from Vidyut Bhavan in Nakkalagutta on Saturday, CMD Varun Reddy instructed Superintending Engineers, Divisional Engineers, and senior officials from 18 circles to identify overloaded 33 kV and 11 kV feeders. He emphasized expediting conductor upgrades, constructing new substations, installing additional Power Transformers (PTRs), and enhancing transformer capacities. He directed field teams to continuously monitor Distribution Transformers (DTRs) operating above 60 percent capacity and proactively augment their capacity or deploy additional units, alongside utilizing tong testers for proper load balancing.
To optimize network efficiency, the CMD mandated the installation of capacitor banks to improve power factor, swift completion of pending interlinking line works for alternative supply options, and implementation of Ring Main Systems on 11 kV feeders in major towns to minimize outages. Covered conductors are also to be installed in urban areas. Directors V. Mohan Rao, V. Tirupati Reddy, and C. Prabhakar, along with Chief Engineers and Chief General Managers, attended the meeting.
