Hanumakonda, Oct.8 : Former Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) Chairman Marri Yadava Reddy strongly condemned the Congress-led State Government over the demolition of houses belonging to poor and Dalit residents in Cherabanda Raju Colony near the Bhadrakali Temple. Speaking at a press conference held at the BRS district office in Balasamudram, Yadava Reddy demanded an immediate halt to evictions and accused the government of betraying marginalized communities after coming to power with their votes.
Yadava Reddy alleged that the demolition drive violates court orders, asserting that carrying out evictions despite a High Court stay amounts to contempt of court. He questioned the legitimacy of the government’s actions, stating that Congress leaders promised an “Indiramma Rajyam” during elections but are now terrorizing vulnerable families who built homes through hard manual labor over decades. He further alleged political interference by local leadership, demanding a comprehensive probe into unfair cases registered against residents and opposition leaders.
Joining the press conference, former corporator Jorike Ramesh criticized the administration for applying dual standards regarding political protests. He pointed out that while Congress leaders conduct demonstrations under police protection, BRS leaders face illegal cases simply for raising public grievances democratically. Ramesh challenged the Congress government to issue the notification for the upcoming Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) elections immediately, expressing confidence that voters will hold the ruling party accountable.
The BRS leaders reaffirmed their commitment to stand by the affected families, assuring that the party will continue its fight until justice and fair compensation are granted to all victims of the eviction drive.
