Hanumakonda, Oct.8 : As many as 574 part-time teachers selected through demos in June 2026 and posted across Social Welfare Gurukul schools are facing severe financial distress due to unpaid salaries for the past four months. With the major festival of Dussehra fast approaching, the aggrieved teachers have urged the state government and society officials to clear their pending dues immediately.
According to affected staff, the delay stems from administrative sluggishness in registering their employee details on the Integrated Financial Management and Information System (IFMIS) portal. While teachers whose details were updated promptly have received their pay, administrative bottlenecks at regional and head offices have left hundreds without salaries, forcing them to borrow money for house rent, children’s education, and daily household expenses.
In addition to clearing salary arrears, the teachers called for equal pay parity with other residential educational institutions societies in Telangana. They pointed out that while part-time Junior Lecturers and Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) in Minority Gurukuls receive monthly honorariums of Rs 36,000 and Rs 28,000 respectively, those in Social Welfare Gurukuls are paid significantly lower amounts of Rs 23,400 and Rs 18,000.
The part-time faculty requested the Secretary and regional officers of the Social Welfare Gurukul Society to intervene without delay. They appealed for immediate completion of the pending IFMIS enrollment process to ensure salary disbursement before Dussehra, alongside approving the long-pending pay hike proposal in the upcoming board meeting.
